Excellent Marketing and PR Starts in Your Office
Motivational Employee Ideas
Motivating your employees to work smarter and serve your dentistry customers with a high level of concern and enthusiasm can be a tall order. However, there are a few simple steps you can take to get the most out of your professional team, and these methods will not cost you a dime. Try these motivational ideas in your dental office, and watch your employees transform from drones to a lean, collaborative team.
Provide Ongoing Professional Development
Give your employees the tools to succeed and they will work harder for you and produce exceptional results for your practice. Create an ongoing training program, either in house or at a local training facility. Leave literature in the break room that is dentistry related so they can constantly learn. Keep them abreast of current changes and trends that affect your business and your clients.
If you do not have the resources to pay for training, set up regular staff training days and teach them yourself. There is no method more effective than having the boss take an active interest in the growth of their employees. Be a great leader and your employees will follow your example.
Employees Have Great Ideas
If you go to the trouble to provide your employees with professional development training, listen to what they have to say when they have ideas for change and improvement. Just listening will give your entire dental team a sense of ownership and motivate them to work harder. Also, when you implement new programs and services, ask your employees for their opinions, good and bad. When an employee feels that they are valued, your business will always benefit and so will your clientele.
Set a Good Example
If you insist that your employees show up on time for work, or stay until the last client has been served; set the tone and adopt the same principles. Make a point of being on time in the morning, keeping appointments and following through when you say you are going to do something, whether it is for a client or an employee. Employees have more respect for a boss that practices what s/he preaches.
Your Mood is Contagious
Your mood and attitude is reflected in your dental team (which also trickles down to your clients). Your tone and body language speaks volumes about you. Be positive, upbeat and approachable to your employees and exhibit this same behavior to clients. In turn, employees will share your enthusiasm for their work and it will add to the overall culture and efficiency of the practice.
Be Clear About Expectations
Your employees need direction and if your expectations are clear, your professional team will be able to work confidently within an established framework. Providing clear objectives helps to set employees up for task accomplishment and success. In return, successful employees who are proud of their achievement, work harder and smarter for your dental practice and your clients.
