Don’t Skimp on Waiting Room Chairs: Make sure Patients Feel at Home
If you've ever had to wait to be seen for an appointment and had to spend the time in an uncomfortable chair, you know how terribly irritating that can be!
Waiting is bad enough all by itself, especially in a dentist's office. After all, few people actually LOVE seeing their dentists, plus which many people have had unpleasant experiences with dentists during their early years that have left them with feelings of fear about having any dental work done.
And fear, of course, makes everyone feel physically tense–it's the old "fight or flight" syndrome rearing its evil little head. So it's especially important that the chairs in dental waiting rooms are comfortable and encourage patients to relax while they wait for their turn in your chair!
When shopping for furniture for your office, don't choose chairs by looks alone. Sit in the chairs you're considering asking your patients to spend time in. Do they support your body in a way that keeps your spine straight and your back relaxed? If so, go ahead and buy them. If not, keep looking until you find chairs that do!
